speed 12 wraith?
picked up a used star wraith a while ago that seemed a little different from most wraiths ive seen. i bought it because it was very flat and i wanted to see how it flew compared to my other wraiths. i recently noticed on the stamp that its marked as a speed 12 rather than 11. is it a mistamp or is it marked that way for a reason? it seems a bit more over stable than my other wraiths. not sure if its due to the lack of dome or because im not getting it up to speed.

I've got a bubblegum pink star wraith EXACTLY like you described. I have never seen star plastic this flat ever. It's the most overstable wraith i've ever thrown. Now that it's a little more beaten in it flies somewhat closer to what a wraith should fly like. When it was new it was almost unthrowable.

I like the sounds of this disc. But have never seen one myself.

On the PDGA website Dave was asked about this as well. He stated that it was a mis print. The Wraith is an 11. He didn't answer about the pancake flatness of it. All of the new Wraiths I have are like that as well. Even the two CFR star ones I got.

just for clarification...
the speed of the disc has ZERO to do with how fast it flies... it has to do the minimum speed required to get it to fly correctly. flat tops tend to make discs overstable. now you've beat it in (ie making it less stable") it should be closer to a normal wraith. If you like how your Flat Top Wraith throws, then you should plug into a Destroyer almost perfectly. |

I own pro and star destroyers and this flew (when new) nothing like them.
The profile pic does it no justice. that picture wouldn't look any different even if I cut the flight plate off and there was just a rim. |

I agree. I've used Wraiths (CFR and Pro) since they came out and love them. I tried Destroyers on for size this summer and they've pretty much replaced the Wraiths. They feel a lot alike. Killer disc. |

Wraiths are always a solid balanced drive capable of massive bombs. Sounds like this mold could be great in the wind.

here are a couple shots of mine. the side by side pic is two wraiths of the same weight. almost looks like a different mold entirely.
