O ok this idea is fool proof. pay for 7custom stamped discs, with some kind of logo/theme for the intended roadtrip f.e. big disc golf trip 2011. if the discs are good quality plastic and the you put a lil effort into the stamp design they cant turn you away

if they don't want you to go just because you make the odd number...you probably don't wanna go with them anyway.

Sounds like you need some new friends.
This might sound crazy, but you could find one more person to come you'd have 8 which is easily divisable into whole numbers by 2.

It's really not the whole group. I've got two close friends in the group and the rest are just acquaintances.

The disc bribe thing might be a good idea...
