Good to see the OKC area getting a new course. I'm a little hesitant when I see that its being installed by students. I hope they have a knowledgeable designer involved.

I took an overhead look of this park on Google Maps. I certainly hope that there's more land involved than there appears to be, because that piece of turf looks like its only good for about nine holes. 18 would be too crammed and unsafe.

That's what I was thinking too. But if that property DOES extend past the baseball fields by the pond area, it looks like it could be very quality.

There's actually more land "available" than what is shown in the above aerial shot. Don't know how much they are willing to 'give up', but there is a lot of space here.

Has anyone heard anything else about the starting up of this course?

With that in mind....

Hedrick said about 60 students from both Canadian Valley campuses helped with the course.

Student Sarai Richardson, 17, a junior at Mustang High School, drew the plans for where each of the holes would be — stretching across 32 acres of the 160-acre park. She had to redraw some holes to avoid crossing walking trails.

Computer-aided drafting and design students created presentation boards for each stage of the project.

Others created a budget and researched a list of needs.

Hoo boy. I'm glad these kids are getting some experience in project building, but this sounds like this is more about getting the students something to make than giving the citizens something to play. What happens after the course is installed and the students are gone? I hope we don't have another Cape Girardeau on our hands, or something that is utterly boring.

Grand Opening Tournament Today

I heard from one of the guys on the ground that part of the $5 - $10 donations will go toward course maintenance, so maybe that will restore some of your faith in humanity, Scarp.
