Recently a ball golf guy was telling me about a variation of the Three-Putt Poker game they play that I thought sounded interesting. Their rules award good drivers as well as putters. I've tried to modify the rules for disc golf and adjust the credits according to the approximate level of difficulty of accomplishing the task.
I'd be curious to hear some feedback... Disc Golf Poker This game assumes an easy way to measure or guesstimate a 10m putting circle. To start everyone contributes to an initial buy-in, e.g. $3, to the pot and receives one playing card. There are opportunities to earn playing cards on each hole as such:
After the round add up all your card credits. (Always round down partial card credits.) Deal out the number of cards to each player that they have earned. Deal a three card "Flop" common to everyone. Best poker hand takes the pot. Per the original rules you can play for nine holes and then start over for the second nine. Modified Ball Golf Poker Rules To start everyone contributes to an initial buy-in, e.g. $3, to the pot and receives one playing card.

This sounds like it would be real fun. I am guessing you need a short par 3 course to play this.
"Great Drive": A tee shot that lands inside the circle is worth 2/3 of a card. SO for longer courses with par 5's and such there will need to be some adjustments. Maybe you can make it so if you can get the disc in the circle at 1 under par you get 2/3 card or if you get it there 2 under par you get 4/3 par. "Ace": Hitting an Ace earns you the rest of the deck after the other cards have been distributed. My suggestion here for long courses could be everyone who has an eagle will split up the rest of the cards.

Or for longer courses you could say first person to land in the circle for each hole, playing honors, gets the 2/3 of a card. This is adapted from another ball golf game called Bingo-Bango-Bongo. In this game the first person on the green gets a point, the closest to the pin once everyone is on the green gets a point, and the first in the hole gets a point. I was trying to adapt this to disc golf but ti is pretty tough without a good estimation of the green.
This does sound like a blast though.

Keep it Simple
I'd suggest you keep the game simple.
Ante up to get in the game Birdie gets a card. Ace gets a hand (five cards) You could use a flop at the end if there aren't a lot of birdies scored, but I don't thnk I'd bother. -- Sonny Finger Rocky Mount, NC |
