Also had some big SSA fluctuation at my most recent event in Tyler, TX. Along the same lines non-current members are still calculated into the ratings right?

Ok I will have to let the TD know that.....in case he didn't have people list them.

Only reason I care is he was rated like 1015 and the propagator field IMO was skewed.....for example a 965 rated guy I would never expect to shoot less than 990 on those courses while I can barely break 1000 (but that is another issue).

Basically a 58 this time (tournament record BTW) was a 1028 while the last event a 61 was 1027. I played both events and my 62 this year was better than the 64 I shot 6 months ago yet it was rated 8 points lower for a score two shots better. This 1028 rating for the 58 is also the same as a 62 in 2010.

I know why this happens.........I just don't agree with it

Second round a 54 was 991 even though a 54 at the other event was 999........no big deal until you realize the course now plays 3 shots tougher with the addition of three new par fours, a 10ft tall pyramid on what used to be an easy 350ft birdie, and after taking out two of the easier par 3s.

So basically why is a score of 50 only 1029 (it was a really solid round) when a 51 6 months earlier before the changes was a 1026?

Once again I have a feeling I know the answer yet still do not agree with it.

Finally, in the 3rd round a 56 was a 998 round while a 51 was 1042. This round I have no real issue with as it seems relatively close compared to the first two examples. In this case a 57 in the winter was a 999 which is still higher than a better score at a later date but not TOO far off.

My concern is with the first two rounds as I feel those are a little farther off than we would like to see.

Also Chuck, what are the preliminary results of the PDGA leagues when it comes to the calculated ratings?

I know local league here has very low results (although I don't think this league was a good candidate). I fear once these players start to enter the tournament pool with ratings based on league results it could have a negative effect on the whole system.

Then again at least it would temper the gradual inflation of ratings which have seemed to slow slightly in the past 2 or so years.

We'll do a full analysis on what happens with the league ratings but they haven't been calculated yet. Roger is going to break out a player's league rating from their regular player rating for me to take a look and I'll report publicly so we can discuss if the process needs to be tweaked.
