threw the APE
havent been throwing fh much, but a buddie of mine got and ape. the first time he threw it, it landed in the road 200 ft left of the tee box. So i new it is a massive meathook. so i wanted to fh it, obviously, i wanted to throw a hard anyhzer to see what it really had. i let it go at 45 degrees rhfh and it instantly wanted to come out of it. the throw looked like a huge U starting from anhyzer to flat to hyzer with alarming speed. i got it out to 350 and i can usually crush a fh throw. I dont know what this disc is usefull for but its fun to throw. on a side note it is very very nose angle sensitive, or mabey its been so long since i have throw a high speed driver. I want to see a big gun throw this for distance.

I can hit 440' all day long, and I can barely get my Ape 275', not counting the 4 miles it turns left (RHBH). One interesting thing I found about the ape is Tommy's. If you throw it just right on a tomahawk, it will flip over once, land straight up and down, and roll for about 80' or so. The fat lip just lets the thing roll forever.

With a ton of anhyzer and some monster height out to the left, giving it enough room as it crosses to the right and then fights back into its fade, I can pull 360-380 out of it. Trying to throw it flat I have to give it some impressive OAT in order to knock some of its HSS out of it. I can get it to fly straight for about 200 feet but its fade keeps it from getting more than 315-330 this way.
I love the Ape in my bag but it has some very specific roles and shots. |

What I have found out is that the Star stamped Apes are less over stable then the stock runs. I am getting my Star stamp one out to the 380' range but can only get the stock stamp out to 330-350 range. I have found that my ape is a very good compliment to my 1st run Boss. If there is a strong head wind I can throw the ape flat and know that it will come back. I do know one thing... this thing comes out of your hand fast and gets where it is going fast.

yeah, you probably shouldn't throw an ape if you're OATing it at a 45 degree angle. chuck it hard into the wind with lots of snap... when you have a sharp dogleg to get around. otherwise it's just an unruly beast. i like the ape for doglegs but i went and apologized to my XG boss, and it took me back.

They are actually a slightly flippy disc.
I have a 430' golf shot and when I rip mine flat the same way I throw a new champ xcal the APE turns a little right then fades back hard, when the xcal just holds straight for a while then fades. Sorry to burst your bubble. I do like them for my lesser powered forehand. I can throw it anny and it fights back hard for a nice line.

if you can put a "slight anny on an ape fh and get a stright line on without oat i am impressed. my bh in very noodleish but i have on a good day, a great fh. i have a video showing me throw in the 430 range. also 345 up a big elevation, with my best throw 475 which would have cleared 500 it hit a tree with some speed to spare. i had a 20 ft comeback throw on a 460ft hole. might be my throw but unless i am throwing up hill i use no oat (when i get it right). i can understand bh with the added spin and distance potential. I want to see someone flip an ape on video!

Quote:
I never said I "flip" my ape with my forehand. I stated I flip it back hand with snap because my backhand is my main throw. I dont have the power to "flip" and ape forehand. But is still a flippy disc when powered properly for its speed. It is not like they described or rated it.
