My yellow Z Flash resembled a predator. It was overstable.

Orc/Beast is a good comparison, but sometimes (like Hysell said) they can be freakishly overstable.

I've heard of this but haven't seen it yet. I throw an ESP flash and it's like a less stable surge or wraith. I use it for long narrow fairways or long annys in a headwind. Great disc!

I have a couple esp flashes, out of the box they fly like a Pro Starfire (SL Mold), maybe slightly more flippy.

I never threw an ESP Flash. The Surge came out about the time they were releasing the Flash in ESP plastic and I moved on. No one ever asks me for Flashes. I still get requests for for Wildcats and XS's. I think the Flash was just a filler between the Wildcat and the Surge.

That makes you sound old(sorry, I couldn't help it). All kidding aside, I do know that Discraft has the ability to pump out really overstable versions of all their straightish molds, so I have no doubt that there are Predator-stable Flashes.

Anyway, a Flash's true character is to be very long and straight. If I'm honest, I've probably thrown my longest drives ever with Flashes. A Flash that flips a little is the most consistently long tailwind flyer I've ever used...It's much less hit or miss than anything faster. The downside to the Flash, as hinted to in Hysell's post, is that it can shape up out of the mold to be any stability from an Avenger SS to a Predator. Most are like a slightly faster Orc that fade a bit later and less abruptly.

Ive tried a surge and just don't have the arm for it, It just hyzers the whole way and falls short. Ive also thrown XS's, I liked them, but just got pushed out of my bag between Teebirds and the Flash. The flash is just a good fit for me, tough as the esp gets beat up a bit, they can get too flippy, and they arent very good in the wind.
