problems with my approach disc

so i havent been playing for very long but ive been playing about 4-5 times a week and love every second of it...but theres one problem...i cant seem to throw my approach disc (discraft rattler) consistently....i have no problems with any other disc in my bag except for this one...i was wondering if anybody else had a problem with it? cause the rim is really deep and may be part of the problem...or if anyone had any tips for me?....thanks in advance

Maybe try to use a different grip; find something that is comfortable for you and allows you to have a clean release.

Are you having problems throwing it full power? What kind of range are you seeing these problems?

Check out these grip instruction videos on youtube - midrange grip tips. They're excellent and these really helped me improve both distance and accuracy on the approach. K. Climo and D. Feldberg.

Wink

I ended up having to change my grip to a Three Finger Grip on my Storm and Impact to eliminate inconsistencies resulting from grip lock.

I personally dont like the deep rim of the putters, so I just use my Shark. It works for me

Putting really is whatever works for you. Mid range is a different story, but I would say that if you are using the same grip that you use with you drivers, something is wrong. You are using the disc for an entirely different purpose and as such you need to make some adjustments. I use a four finger power grip for drives and then a three finger grip with my pointer on the rim for my mid range and wow, I can be so much more accurate with my mid range. At the same time I can still throw my mid range 300+ ft. It is when I need to go 350ft that I need to reach for my driver, or when I need to get around something, then I will go to a fairway driver.

recently ive noticed i do better on long aprroach or short mids shots using my driver grip which is a three finger grip with the index inside the rim minus the pinkie instead , inside of 75 feet or so i switch to for finger .

That grenade grip looks pretty cool i think im gonna have to have a go at it thats the first time ive seen alot of those grips good find
