Then I'll spread vicious rumours and force them to play their hand.

Did you know?:

The Axis features dimple technology.
The Axis will be the first disc with two beads.
The Axis will have a groove top and a thumbtrack.
The overmold is made of thirdworld rubber and Canadian asbestos.
MVP uses forced beaver labor to make their discs.
Discspeed is an Iranian spy.
Buddhist monks set themselves on fire to protest the stamp on the Axis.

Did we ever find out if the Axis will have a bead or no?
It shares the Vector's core I believe, but it will have more wing to cover most the bead. As I understand this will leave a small Ionesque bead. Chad and I talked a lot of conceptual stuff regarding disc design and what we think affects flight and how. I especially talked to him about what I felt were the strengths and weaknesses of a disc like the Buzzz, and how I felt it could be improved upon. Obviously simply making a Buzzz-like disc more gyroscopic would make it better, but other little things could help too(like a small bead). My opinions seemed to only echo what Chad was already on to in his Axis concept...A bead, even a small one, affects flight in many positive ways. It's slows a discs turning movement in the air, and makes the disc less speed sensitive. It also slows and evens the break in. There are also negatives to some beaded discs. Some discs feel too tall in the hand with a bead and feel awkward to grip. Most beaded discs tend to have more sharp flash when new, which adds to the bad feel. So the Axis will neither feel tall in the hand (the Vector feels considerably shallower in the hand than a Roc imo, as does the Ion compared to an Aviar) nor have any flash where you grip it.

Now that this disc really is right around the corner, perhaps the discussion can become more focused...

To me this disc represents the culmination of everything MVP has learned to date. The Buzzz was both Chad R and my favorite disc...Not just favorite mid, but favorite disc. Ever since the Ion was first pressed I know this disc was in the back of Chad's mind. The Vector was even put out first so that any learning curves would be had during it's molding and NOT the Axis. MVP is going to make a lot of other discs, but I'm pretty sure that this one is Chad's baby...And I've never heard such excitement in his voice after testing a disc. I know I will only be waiting a few more days to throw my tester, but every minute is killing me.

So why not save the name "Vector" for the straight flying disc?

That was my first thought when they confirmed the Vector was going to be overstable.

EDIT: By the way, since the putter is called ION (sub-atomic particle theme) and the mids are called Vector and Axis (mathematical theme), what theme will they go with for the drivers? And why do I have a desire for a modified beadless Vector called the "Derivative"?

^^^^.... no.

it has to stay physics related, i say go astro, stellar or nuclear with it.

how about the spectrum, fission, fusion, quark, supernova...
