Adirondack Disc Golf

Not sure if this is the proper forum for this but wanted to share my excitement about the rapidly expanding disc golf scene in the Adirondack park of Northern New York. The beauty of this area has made it a tourist/wilderness destination since the 1800's and has been popular for hiking, camping, skiing, paddling and bolfing for a century but disc golf took a while to catch on even though nearby areas in Vermont and Western New York caught the disc golf bug years ago. The 3 main courses in Northeast New York (Ausable Chasm, Cadyville & Whiteface ) compliment each other nicely. The locals are addicted and are getting good fast! Literally hundreds of thousands of tourists are getting exposed to and turned on to the sport when they visit the scenic attractions Whiteface, Ausable Chasm and Stone Bridge(kids course) who all have DGCs. Several local town parks are also planning on adding courses. The fuse has been lit and the explosion is coming! The new website/local message board
www.adkdga.com
is hosting an ace race in September and a contest to win tons of plastic and portable targets just by signing up on the boards and liking their facebook site. Anyway its been fun to watch the scene grow and I hope some of the members of this board get a chance to enjoy our beautiful mountain regoin courses in the future!

I'll be up on Lake Champlain for a week and in Saranac for a week in September. I may luck out and time it right for the Ace Race. Either way, I'll be hitting a course or two. Glad to hear things are looking up. Great land for courses.

Hey Chuck, nice to see you on DGCR!

Sloppydisc, btw the course you played at cadyville is now a full 18 holes. Make sure when you come up this year youget another round in now that the course is finished. You'll also want to get a round or two in at ausable chasm, and it's another nice new course in the area, for now it's only 9 holes but should hopefully be a full 18 next season!
