The Billygoat Brushcutter is a great unit. Can probably find a used one at a local rental store for a good price.

The Billy Goat is absolutely the best unit for our 21 hole deep woods and meadow course .... we can do our whole course in an 8 hour day .... we wait to mid July when the grass has reached it's max height ... 4' and let the Billy Goat pull us around the course ... you need at least 6 guys to spot in and out and maximize it's use but boy it really is fantastic ..... we rent for 60bucks for the day and once the grass is down for the year it is done and we don't have to it again for another year.

The D R Brush Hog gets a thumbs down from me. When the parts break it has taken months, literally. to get it repaired. The factory sends wrong parts to the repair shop and then doesn't seem to care to expedite getting out new parts. We first thought it was the repair shop, but we changed shops and had the same experience.

The ones I've used have all been very inneffective. I've rented, though, so it might be maintenance issues.

Another vote for Billy Goat. I've rented them, and it's true that rental equipment is only as good as the place you rent it from as far as it being maintained. But this machine does work really well.

No doubt that the DR works great. However, when repair time comes it has taken over a month each time it broke form the repairman to get parts from the manufacturer.

It sure beats doing everything by hand. We use handheld hedge trimmers and cut and drag. We've talked about renting something but never have.
