State takes Belle Isle deal off the table.
I think the State simply got sick and tired of the city council and city leadership's immaturity, BS, and unreasonable posturing. They make it so you gotta bend over backwards to help them. Life doesn't work like that.

Sigh, so now they'll muddle about and do the minimum(or nothing at all) to improve the park.
Just watch...... nothing will get done in the park and the Detroit Grand Prix will roll around and they'll "band-aid" patch the track and the race will be an embarassment again. The residents will never learn. They'll re-elect the same corrupt council members to another term too. |

I sincerely hope this is a last straw for the few remaining rational and reasonable citizens of the city. Never has the need for change in leadership been clearer. It's a real shame that the lunatic-fringe, extremely vocal and volatile minority gets to dictate policy for the entire city. Stephen Hendersen over in the Free Press referenced a poll that showed 66% of polled city residents supported the state proposal to step in on Belle Isle. And yet, because the lunatics are the ones who show up at the council meetings, the JoAnn Watsons, the Kwame Kenyattas and the like, are able to justify their obstinance by pointing to the lunatics.
As a Wayne County resident, you'd think I'd be used to this type of horse****, but for some reason, this fiasco really has me ****ed up and angry. I'm just disgusted by the city leadership, and any sympathy I might have had for those opposed to an emergency manager has completely evaporated. Fuk 'em, bring on the EM and bring in the State. |

No one will change the city of Detroit. End of story. On a positive note, theres a bad ass pole hole course on Belle Isle. Anyone reading this thread should check it out sometime.

Not that I know of donnyv, but we are discussing fundraising options for Summer 2013 right now.
I don't think it has been mentioned on this thread, but you all know we have written approval from the City to install a disc golf course, right??? Expect to see some big changes out there this summer - the future is very bright for disc golf on Belle Isle.
