Yep. And it's for a good reason. I am aptly named.

I love my opto pure. I use it for a lot of approach shots.

I play on weekends with a group of other grandmasters... they marvel at the new-fangled plastic that I throw. The opto Pure is the "creme de la creme". One of the other guys started driving with his star Avair P&A in response. Both of our games have improved.

Can anyone tell me how the Opto Pure compares to a medium Ion?

Opto Pure is less stable than an Ion. Granted, I am comparing with a soft Ion, but the bead alone will make it more stable. That being said, I really enjoyed my Ion for approaches, but didn't like the bead for putting. Both discs are excellent for approaches, with the Pure being more of a lazer-straight machine than the Ion, personally.

I'll add that the Pure's rim is not as deep. I can release it more consistently.

The Ion is a great disc - absolutely zero disrespect. I prefer the Pure for the super straight flight and the shallower rim. Get the one that feels the best for you.

Agreed. It's all about feel. The Pure feels more like a mid to me, which I prefer.

the pure and anode are closer in flight and feel. the anode is a little shallower and they throw wickedly similar. I have kept the ion in the bag with the opto pure as my approach discs. the ion when i want to 'chip' it in and the pure when i want to make a run straight at the basket. They compliment each other well, the fade of the ion is why its still in the bag.
