Can a TD adjust age protected divisons?

I'm trying to figure out if a TD is allowed to adjust who is able to compete in a divison like Open Masters in a PDGA sanctioned event. If a player who is say 36 asks the TD to play Masters and the TD then asks all the players in the divison is they are fine with it, would it be allowed? I see no reason why this couldn't be allowed if the other players are cool with it.

I doubt it too. I ran an unsanctioned team event this year and had a division for 35+ instead of 40. It was my largest division represented at the tournament.

not in a pdga event... if it's unsanctioned then sure.

Are you trying to fill the division up?

CAN he do it? TD's can do anything they want.
Is it ALLOWED by the sanctioning agreement that the TD signed? Nope.
Would anything come of it if he did do it? Questionable - but doubtful, the PDGA has opted to sanction as many events as possible - and does not have the resources to police these things unless someone complains.

Maybe it could be sanctioned as a "__X Tier" thus allowing for the age protected division to be something other than what is standard. Players might get ratings but not earn points unless the layout is different for each division.

why would a 36y old need to be in open masters.

i for one think masters age should be bumped UP 5 yrs to 45...

If a 36-year old feels he can't hang with Open then maybe he should be an Amateur or if his rating is already under 970, he can enter Advanced.
