The "once in a while" part of my post was for the entire Crystal Lake/Streamwood area.

I have played Lippold a few times this year along with other courses in the area.

I play lippold like 2-3 times a week with one of the other courses around here

I really like Hoffman estates the holes aren't long but there's a lot of trees and different lines

The Fairfield Thursday night league is still happening, but I'm not sure what the start time is now.

The Saturday morning league goes all year, regardless of weather. Start time is "officially" 11:00 AM, but usually starts closer to 11:15.

Either way, if you want to play Fairfield in the current set up there is not much time left. The Round Lake Area Park District has been working hard to clear the fairways for the new Squaw Creek Gold and Fairfield White courses. When they are done, this will hopefully be one of the best courses in the Greater Chicagoland area.

Wish I could say the same about Black Bear Park in Hoffman Estates. After seeing some top notch out of state courses, the Black Bear course just doesn't stack up well. Unfortunately, this is typical for all courses designed and installed by that certain company.

Elevation isn't the only thing making the courses here boring. Lots of great courses out there that are flat.

They are re-designing most of the course, however some of the white course will be using a few of the original holes in the woods. All of the holes in the field will be moved. The "monster" hole will change but will still be long.
