Side arm drives
I've been disc golfing for about 12 years, and have never been able to drive back-handed. i found what i believe to be a great side arm technique. how many others throw sidearm?

I throw both, as it seems most do. Plenty of people consider themselves fh dominant, so you have plenty of company.

I started out throwing sidearm only since it was the only way I could really get alot of distance. I was crushing my friends off of the tee everytime until they put in the time to get a better backhand drive. After they started out-driving me I figured a better learn how to backhand so I can compete. I have never looked back. I still prefer to throw sidearms on the shots were it's logical but 95% of my drives are backhand now. I find having a good shot backhand satisifes me more than a good drive forehand would, i really dont know why.
To answer your second question, I throw a Z nuke for longer sidearms and a XXX for most everthing else. I also use a Z zone for side approaches and things like that. A monster is a great overstable disc to go with. |

The C Tbird and C Monster are fine for driving FH. But to be competitive[with friends or tourneys] you've got to learn BH. 3-4 months if you're committed...

You don't "have" to learn backhand to be successful or competitive, but it will help you out.
