Houck claims it's his web master and not himself that makes the claim as "The #1 disc golf course designer in the World." Of course, my slogan for DG by Design has been, "Where even the best course designers turn for help." We've both been significantly involved in about the same number of course designs in the 110-125 neighborhood depending on how you count. Both of us have been involved in several temp courses for events like Worlds and helping other designers significanlty tweak their courses but our names appropriately don't show in the design credits. It wouldn't surprise me that those of you who say you haven't played one of our courses may have played one that we helped tweak but you didn't know it.

Just like you can't fairly compare courses of different types in the top 10 - Rec, Par 3, Blue or Gold Championship - the experienced designers each have specialties. For example, I think the team of Dan Doyle & Brinster might be the best at mountain ski course design and developed the one tee dual basket mixed with two tees and one basket courses based on what the terrain provided. Stan is one of the best wooded course designers but he's also done more actual creative course building work than most designers. Harold Duvall who was just mentioned has specialized in building many rec level courses to support the EDGE program at the lowest skill level and has created some of the most tortuous challenges for the highest levels in our sport via the course laboratory called Winthrop Gold.

Beat me to it. Harold and Stan McDaniel are my personal faves as far as I know (which isn't a lot in terms of designers).

I don't know where Hosfeld fits in this pantheon, nor how many courses he's designed. I've played two and loved them; the late Gran Canyon was one of my all-time favorites, with some unique and very creative holes.

Brett Favre. His dependability has been unmatched and probably will remain so.
