XXX and Firebird?

is it overlap to carry both of these?

i have a beat champ firebird (kinda flat) that is awesome for controlled BH distance.

i also carry a super flat 11x firebird for quick hyzering flicks and windy conditions.

i consider both of these to be long range drivers.

the xxx's i have are complete meathooks. definitely dont have the distance potential of firebirds. i've considered carrying both so i can have the xxx for trick shots, OH, flick approaches, etc.

im not necessarily a disc minimalist, tried that and i prefer to have the disc i need for the shot (to a degree). i like to keep it at least under 10 molds.

so what do you think?

gl xxx seem to glide a little more and the light gls are really nice for that firebird type backhand line.

essentially you're comparing a beat firebird to a brand new firebird since opto XXX's don't beat in. GL's will show effects of wear a little bit quicker, but will still rival a brand new firebird for at least a year of steady use.

So is there overlap? yes. but until XXXs come in baseline plastic, there is no shame in pairing them with a few seasoned firebirds.

My opto XXX is still a meathook, and I got it on a trade USED. I bought my GL new, and it has beat in to be very similar to my CE FX...just a tad slower.
GL is $$$$, get one.

I throw 12x Firebirds and flat opto XXX.

i was using the firebirds for overstable duties and the XXX for stable fairway shots, thumbers, reverses, trick skips...they do overlap but truth is a 12x firebird paired with XXX is kinda like Teebird/TL.

Now the firebird is more of a teebird like disc....low drives in the woods for distance.

XXX for thumbers.

i have found the AO glow firebirds that are flat are very close to the XXX. might be what you are looking for if you can find them. they are almost as stable only about 5% less imho. and of course they will stay stable for a long time....

those AO fb are very hard and dangerous don't hit anybody with one you will kill them.

Pick up a new run Firebird with the Climo sig, and you can ditch the xxx. The latest 12x run is as flat as the 11x, but much stiffer and stable.
