Well that's a bummer because after 36 holes I'm spent. My arms don't hurt, it is primarily my hamstrings and specifically my right leg IT band (the muscle/tendon that runs down the side, back of your leg and attaches to the side, front of your knee). I'm daily stretching my legs to keep the soreness down. I'm also 42, but don't think I should be hurting that much after 2 rounds.

i find this true for any "technique driven" sport. My students always wonder why I (6' 155lbs) can hit a serve (tennis) 120+ mph no prob all day and look effotless. Relaxation and technique is important, so your body flows and transfers all the energy into that "hit" point. Thats one reason i HATE the term noodle arm because to me that should be a good thing. You should have a "noodle" arm when you throw meaning your relaxed and fluid instead of trying to strong-arm. This is why when someone cant throw i call them baby-armed instead.

Bad thread title....replace body with arm. Throwing far with good form will typically make your core sore before your limbs. Of course how sore all depends on your age/health and how much you throw.

Agreed. Watch most any elite athlete and they make it look effortless because they are so smooth with rhythm and generate power in the right places.

Baby armed? I like T-Rexing better.

I used to play 2 rounds of 24 on my days off carrying a bag, then switched to a cart and feel no shoulder pain now.

On a related note, I was out at Rennaissance in Charlotte NC practicing for the Carolina Clash, just taking up the fairway on hole 1 and practicing placment shots. Then, up walks a guy who looks really familiar. I ask him, "Have we met before?", but he said he's in from CA for the tourney tomorrow, and that's when it hit me. It's Nate Doss, the guy I've see in all the Discraft vids. So a I chatted with him for a bit about the area courses while he warms up (interesting to see in person what the towel snap drill is supposed to look and sound like, as opposed to what it is when I do it), and then he proceeds to throw three of his drivers about 2 times farther than my furthest throw ever with almost no effort, and perfect placement for a follow up birdie putt. After he's done and we exchange goodbyes and good lucks, I take up my driver, and get a decent drive on the second toss, but nowhere near as far, and with considerable more effort. obviously, his Discraft mojo worked something on my Innova discs and made them fly bad... That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Long story short(er), I wish I could figure out how to throw with such ease as I saw that guy today. Oh, and I may have a bit of a man-crush. Or would it be distance-envy? This is the most famous person I've ever met and actually had a conversation with. Conversely, Michael Jordan, not really big on shooting the sh*t with a stranger, just so you know.

I somewhat disagree.

I disagree with the way you stated your thought, because if you don't throw for a long time, but then go throw some drives with perfect form, you muscles will be sore. That is the case with anything.

Or if you are just old and your muscles ache after a lot of movement.

But if you are in great shape and you just go out and throw, your arm should be fine.

I have a bad shoulder from two old injuries, driving does not hurt it. Be loose, stretch, breathe deep and relax everything. I'm 47.

i say t-rex armed to people i don't know as well because it less offensive. still both better than noodle arm.

Im on a Crusade to stop the thought of noodle arm= bad distance!
