Reputation Trial

I decided to give the reputation feature of the forum a try and see how it goes. Here is some basic information on the feature:

A few things not mentioned in the FAQ above. You can only give out 5 reps per day and you must rep 25 people before you can rep the same person again. Other requirements, you must have a minimum of 50 posts and 10 rep points before your reps count for others.

So what's the idea behind all this? It's just a way to tag posts you think are helpful, informative, etc. with the idea being that the most helpful members of the community will be better identified.

I'll leave this on for a while and if it goes well, we can keep it on. If it gets abused or is otherwise just not all that great I can turn it off.

The icon to click on to rep. people looks like a little scale (near the report post icon).

So it looks like we can only give positive reps. While I approve of taking the high road, there are some cases where a negative rep would be appropriate.

If everyone starts at zero, no one's reps count, so how will anyone get to ten?

How is it displayed? I see everyone now has a little green icon, is it just a red, gray, green scale or will a rep number accompany it (similar to iTrader)?

Everyone has a rep of 10 right now. The bar just grows as more people rep your points. Negative rep would most definitely be used for the wrong reasons on the forum so I left it out.

I recognize this feature fromm lesser forums I choose to no longer frequent. You start out with one little green turd. As you create additional accounts and rep yourself in order to win the popularity contest, additional little green turds will appear in a horizontal line. If negative rep were allowed, you could go all dark side and make red turds appear. Enjoy.
