The KC Roc plastic is pretty hard to work with. The best KC Rocs were the 8X, 10X and some of the early 11X. It's really been a long time since Innova made a really great run of KC Rocs, probably six or seven years. That's a long time to be churning out so-so KC Rocs, and there are a lot of them out there.

That being said, I've never had one flip out of the box. I've had them not be as overstable as I wanted them, but they were at least stable. So while I wouldn't be surprised to hear someone say a new KC Roc wasn't as overstable as advertised, I am surprised to hear that one was flippy out of the box.
The Roc (rancho) has been my go to disc since i started playing, but i have a buzz coming in the mail. The roc's have just been too inconsistent lately. I loved them about 2-3 years ago, but they just keep getting domier and less stable. I wish I would have stocked up back in the flatter days.

IIRC it's what came out between the 11x and 12x. Nothing special AFAIK.

I've thrown the Star San Marino for 3 rounds now. It's a pretty sweet disc, it actually flies really close to the flat top I have. Both are pretty stable for me. I also carry an ontario when I need a turnover.

Supposedly the Star San Marino is going to become a regular stock item, though I doubt it will have that 20 Years of Roc stamp.
