Worst fake rules ever invented

Everyone has had that guy on their card that spews out BS left and right about rules they know nothing about. Lets hear yours!

- One guy told me that you had 10 cm from the front of your mark to stand. I corrected him that you have 30 cm from the rear edge of your mark. He said I needed to read the rules. I asked him what about if I choose not to mark my disc with a mini, because discs are longer than 10 cm. He replied that was why marking with a mini is mandatory

- I used to do mini jump puts from within the circle by starting 30 cm behind the mark and landing within 5 cm but still behind. One guy insisted that I had to stay on the ground until my put had landed.

- If I want to jump put I always make sure I am out of 10 meters from the front of my disc before marking with a mini, and if it makes a difference I will not mark with a mini to get that extra 21 cm out of the circle. One guy insisted that I could not do this and that it was cheating. When I pointed out the rule that it was from the rear of the mark, he told me it was from the rear of where the marker disc would be placed if used.

My favorite is when a disc gets caught in a tree and someone says you throw from where it lands after you knock it out even if it rolls down a hill. The spreading of disinformation of rules is fascinating to me.

People always have their own rules about the scorecard. One time a guy insisted that it could not be passed around and whoever was on the top had to do it. In this particular group we had 2 caddies and one walk along that said they would be fine keeping score.

It even says TO pass it around in the rules.

Quote:
The player listed first on the scorecard(s) bears primary responsibility for picking up the group's scorecard(s), although any player may deliver it (them) to the first player. Players in the group shall rotate the scorekeeping responsibility proportionally, unless a player or a scorekeeper volunteers to score keep more and this is acceptable to all members of the group.

^I hate that rule. I played my best tournament this past weekend and I feel part of it was not having to touch or see the scorecard. that **** is a curse.

One thing that i consistently come across people that demand that you circle/square birdies and bogies on score cards. One guy all but accused me of trying to screw him, even though i put the right score on the card. I explained that it is really a courtesy/preference and handed him the rule book and told him to find the rule that he was trying to jam down my throat. He spent the down time for the next five holes looking and the rest of the round being pissy and tanking .

This may end up being my favourite thread of all time!

Here's a couple, I'll add more later

1) I was on a card when PlayerA took two discs to the tee, when he decide which to throw, he threw it, with the other disc in his hand. PlayerB jumped out of his seat (literally) and accused PlayerA of a rules violation on the grounds that the second disc was an illegal "counterbalance". PlayerC was next to tee of and got up immediately, turned to player PlayerB and said something to the affect of "You're full of crap, watch this..." He then proceeded to take two discs to the tee, throw one with the other in his hand, and park the hole. Then he turned around, gave PlayerB a "really, bro?" look and the case was closed.

2) We all drive on a hole. PlayerA's disc come to rest high in a tree (2M rule IS in effect). As we walk up to our lies, PlayerA calls out "I'm starting my 3 minutes right now." Huh? I turned around and asked him why, his response was, "My disc is up in the tree, I get three minutes to see if it will fall on it's own". We all told him that was BS and he responded again that his disc was lost in the tree. We explained to him that his disc was, in fact, in plane sight, not lost, and 30' up a tree. He argued, and we told him to mark his lie and take his penalty. He whined but didn't really have a choice.

Both stories are of the same, long time tournament player, making crap up. He's even been a TD in the past!

lol, at tournaments I don't understand why people still try and think in over and under. If you say the number you will never get into the discussion below.

"How did you do?"
"I shot 4 over"
"So you shot a 58?"
"No, I shot a 59"
"But it's a par 54"
"No, it is a par 55"
