There are a number of ways to expand a field...but none of them are "fun".

1. Cards of 5 would add 108 people to 360 but then all the tee pad making and tree cutting to get to 3 hr rounds would be a waste.

2. You could get rid of the great shuffle and keep everyone in pools until the semi's. Then you would just play each course once and increase the # of courses.
5 Pools/courses/rounds = 360 (maybe do a quarter finals of 144 and semi-finals of 72
6 Pools/courses/rounds = 432 2,1,2,1,1 schedule
7 pools/courses/rounds= 504 2,2,2,1,1 schedule

3. You could go back to 3 rounds per course / day and add in a few pools but I dont feel like figuring this out.

Sounds like the priority was to create the best experience for the 288 that made it in and the worlds team didnt want to sacrifice that with jamming pools full. I hope the event lives up to that goal. A lot of work has been done to build courses and keep round times down to allow people to practice, walk courses, enjoy Charlotte, enjoy the worlds experience.

I am married. I would love to see more women in the sport. That was not necessarily my opinion, just what was said.

Hmm, unless I'm mistaken Kirk Yoo is the TD correct? That's who ran the A tier in Raleigh this weekend I attended.

BTW, I registered for worlds weeks before it closed. I don't want to see an earlier start, reduced number of rounds, increased group sizes or anything else that would diminish the quality of the tournament. You guys are making a good decision there.

Point taken, but most of the discussion here has been because MA1 has filled.

The pro's that aren't lazy, are sure going to clean up this year from the 880 rated players that are planning on rushing that division in 2 weeks.

Kirk is a very outspoken individual. He has his views on the sport as do I and other local club leaders. Some of our views might not set well with you. However, that is not the point of what I told you before. This is not our event! We are the local club who hosts this event. We are very lucky to have brought Kirk on board to assist us with this event. To the point, he has in no way been involved with how many women, men, hybrids or other categories and how many of them might or "should" be allowed to participate in this event. Get it? Now get off it.

That's more info than was needed. No drama required here. Doesn't matter one bit to me how the event is run or what those people running it think. I'm just along for the ride. Looking forward to enjoying it.
