You would indeed record a 4 for the hole, but if I was in your group, I would tell the TD what you did, and the TD would, I hope, DQ you for circumventing the rules (Competition Manual 3.3B(5)).

If I was in that group, I'd immediately call the courtesy violation, say, "...that's not your lie nor is it your turn," and then make him play from his real lie with a warning for both practice throw and playing out of turn.

Would it be "out of the question" to post the multiple choice questions from the exam on here?

I'm on the fence about this one because the reason I would post them would not be to help people cheat, but to bring about a discussion so people better understand the answers

What do you guys think? Bad move....good move?

I would probably ask PDGA about that. Don't know if that could have some bearing on ones official status if you post the questions online.

That being said, I am pretty certain the entire test can be found with google.

I would not post. The purpose of the test is to make the test taker be able to evaluate a situation and apply and interpret the proper rules to come up with the most correct answer.

I would think that a couple of questions, for discussion purposes would be ok. Beyond that, you would be getting into the grey area of discussion vs. cheating.

Yeah I figured that would probably not be the best option, but if anybody hears that they change the questions let me know and I can atleast post the old ones for discussion purposes. How long do they keep the same test? I'm assuming its probably until they come out with some new rules or amendments to old ones........

I made up some alternate questions for the rules test that the PDGA hasn't used. I'll post a few of those for discussion:

A competitor throws her drive on a hole with a mandatory dogleg and misses the mandatory. She marks her lie not realizing she missed the mando. She makes her second throw and the group realizes she had missed the mando on the tee shot. What is her next play?

A. She proceeds to the Drop Zone and will be making her fourth throw after counting a penalty for the missed mando and the practice throw.

B. She proceeds to complete the hole from where her second shot landed and add a 2-throw penalty.

C. She can use the new Optional Rethrow rule, head back to the tee and be throwing her fourth shot. This avoids any more penalties.

D. She proceeds to the Drop Zone playing her fourth throw, completes the hole and adds a 2-throw penalty.

E. She must return to the tee, count the first two throws as practice throws and complete the hole and add a one throw penalty.
