Alexandria disc golf course needs repairs

Alexandria disc golf course needs repairs is the headline for this story.

Quote:
ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Park and Recreation Board is weighing whether to invest in another round of disc golf course improvements.

Disc golf, also known as Frisbee golf, uses metal baskets as the holes. Players toss the discs across grass and into the metal baskets in the least amount of throws possible.

Board chairman Jeremy Toy said he is hopeful a new design for the course will happen, but the board is still listening to a consultant on the issue.

“We are moving forward with some finalizing of a design,” Toy said.

The board is receiving advice from the same consultant who designed the disc golf course at A.J. Jolly Park, he said.

The idea will be to stay at a nine-hole course, but move the baskets further away from each other, Toy said.

I've yet to hit that course up, mainly because I don't venture out to AJ Jolly all that often. Everything I've heard about it basically matches the reviews on here.

If they were to redesign and lengthen the course, I'd probably head out that way a bit more often. It's certainly easier to justify the long drive out to AJ if you have an additional decent 9-holer to hit up while you're out that way.

Yup, I know what you mean. I have never seen this course. There is a back route to AJ Jolly from Lincoln Ridge that takes about 20 minutes but it's still out there a ways.

The big thing about this article was that it was in the Enquirer. Shows how the sport has grown around here for it to get this type of attention. In the past they would have just pulled the course out.

Went there this Summer. It is not marked well and some of the holes have been reappropriated. It is a nice little park for other features though.

Yeah, I played it this past spring. Not really worth stopping at unless you just want to mark it off your list.

I did "ace" #6 there though. Not much of an ace considering it's about 50-60'.

And we have an Alexandria (MN) that's had problems, too.

Got my 1st & 2nd aces at Alexandria (KY), on purpose.

There is a lot of potential in this park for a redesign this putting course. Very pretty lake (though not as impressive as AJ Jolly).
