Are crossing fairways ever OK?

It should be avoided if possible but if not I think it's best if the crossings are closer to the tee or basket for both holes.

For instance if you have both the crossing within the first 50' feet of both tees then it will be very easy for you to tell if the other group is teeing off or walking down the fairway, and easy for both groups to communicate on what's going on.

The other case is if you are playing two back to back holes where the tee for the next hole is close to the basket of the previous but crosses the fairway near that basket. This way the previous group should know the group ahead will soon be crossing the fairway and can either wait for the group to tee off and cross or cross while the group is walking to the next tee. Although in this case it should either be open enough for the group ahead to see discs coming and be able to avoid them or for that tee to be guarded by enough trees to make it unlikely they'll be hit by a group on the previous hole.
