OOP Sidewinder First Dye
Picked up this disc right here on this forum. It was exactly what I wanted, but this is Connecticut and it's kind of hard to find in the woods. I want to dye it something visible, but I haven't found any older Rit dye, just the box of black that I got at Walmart (I don't know if its the new formula or not, I just grabbed one of the boxes, it didn't look particularly old). Also grabbed some contact paper from the kitchen stuff aisle, and some pie tins and I was off!!
I'm super happy how it came out so far. I do want to dye the rest, but again I need to figure out what dye to use (suggestions?). My question for fellow disc dyers is how do you cut/weed your designs? It was my first disc, but this took me nearly an hour and a half to cut out, granted I used the cutting on the actual disc method. Does everyone do it the old fashioned way with a blade? Let me know what you think. ![]()

Nice work.
"All the Rit liquid dyes are now packaged with this new formula. The powder dyes are being converted gradually to this new formula. Colors that have been converted are: Royal Blue, Petal Pink, Fuchsia, and Pearl Grey." You can always double check the code on the envelope for "ND", those won't work. I used a Cricut machine for 2 of my discs, its not great but it works. Unfortunately I can only do 6"x12".

I mostly use a plotter now. Because I'm lazy. I used to be a hand cutter. Most hand cutters use a light table of some type and transfer the cut image to the disc using some form of transfer tape. Your best bet for dye is to find some idye poly.
By the way. Nice first dye.

Thanks! Yeah it wasn't easy. You can see the original image here, and you can see I screwed up some of the small bits.
I'll admit that I'm kinda hooked on the disc dyeing thing. You can get Innova discs for like $7.50 from the F2 store (if you buy 10) so I've got a ton of plastic. |

When I looked at this thread with another browser, it looked like my images were not working, so just in case

nice dye. I still run T1 pegs on my old 20". Is that a home-made basket in the background as well?

![]() Oh that old thing? Yeah we made that a couple months ago. It's not quite regulation but it's good for putting practice |

Its nearly impossible to get a photo of it, but sometimes I'll throw a LED lantern in the bottom and put the tape-on LEDs on some of my discs, makes for some night time fun

that's awesome. Is that a 30's pick up in the background, too? There's another great toy!
