Winter driving slump.

For the past six weeks my drives have been all over the place. Early release, late release, too high, too low, you name it. I might hit one good drive in a round. The rest of my game has been pretty solid. I'm putting better than I have all year, but my scores are 5-6 strokes above what I was averaging during the summer. I was able to put in some field work the other day and I thought I had it straightened out. On the course today was a different story. Anyone else in a slump, or have any tips to break out of it?

I've had the opposite problem. My drives are finally coming together, but I'm clanging more putts than ever before. Getting there though...

Is it snowy there yet? I know I've been having a lot of nose-up shots and release issues when I can't trust my footing.

Same here. Inconsistent backhand drives off the tee. But shooting 3-4 worse than I was in the summer.

Same here. With the cold it's hard to stay loose and relaxed. I find myself always strong arming my coordination is off because of being cold and the tee pad. I busted my butt on a wet tee pad the other week.

I think it has a lot to do with what I wear. I have a lot more layers on that throws me off my natural pull of the disc. I checked my statistical output for playing the different seasons since I have logged every score since 2006 and here are my seasonal results.

Season: Avg: Played:
====================
Winter 55.20 147
Spring 54.57 231
Summer 53.17 209
Autumn 52.80 171
====================

It looks like I obviously play less in the winter and score worse.

I'm the opposite. I think the layers help to slow me down, and I tend to throw as well, if not better than, I do in the warm months. We were out on Sunday and it was pretty cold with a bit of wind, and besides some ugly drives (which happen no matter when), I was super solid the whole day.

Unless your Paul mcbeth its tough to be consistent with your game. Everyone goes through Funks. Normally when I'm in a funk I just take a couple days to a week off and hope when I return everything is somewhat back to normal. Also dont convince yourself your driving bad(golf is mental). It could be worse you know , you could be not throwing frisbees
