2013 PDGA Pro Worlds at Lemon Lake

It's not as financially tough for Pro Worlds bidders any more but the PDGA hasn't really gotten out the word yet. The PDGA now guarantees the 25% added cash amount for the purse and provides a stipend to the Pro Worlds hosts to help defray expenses. So Pro Worlds hosts only need to do a modest job acquiring sponsorship, some which is already in place from a few manufacturers, and they can potentially make a small profit for the club and possibly fund a new course in the process.

World's has been picking up in the last few years. It might be cool to settle on a Lemon Lake/NorCal/North Carolina/(someplace else) rotation and keep going back to these places that are putting on the big World's on a consistent rotation. You could then focus more on those three sites and it will be easier to run a quality event. The one year in the rotation that you do take bids should attract a lot of attention. You should have several quality bids to choose from instead of one or two so-so bids.

That is totally true. I was at both of these World's, in '94 as a Course Director and in '95 as a Videographer for Disc Golf TV. And I guarentee you that the second year was better than the first! LL is a World Class disc golf facility on par with any and Brian and the Red Roc crew are very experienced and highly motivated.

There in lies the truth, without a group of people who are willing to work hard, for a long time, at that particular moment, with little thanks or compensation, you can't put on a Worlds (or any other large event).

I'm sure that Brian and the guys will make LLW2 even better than the first. If there could be one improvement from last time (IMHO), it would be to have a larger venue for the flymart, last time's site seemed a bit cramped.

Will Climo demand that they remove the Iron Leaf from the red course before the tournament starts?

I think some divisions might play the full Red. But I think Brian is going to look at possibilities for creative routing with a blue-red combo for Open if it can be worked into the schedule. I think Blue has some of the better open holes than Red and Red has some of the better technical holes than Blue. Lots of planning and testing ahead.
