Calling infractions...in doubles?

How are infractions handled in a doubles tournament?

Same as usual, someone calls, and someone seconds? Having a teammate makes this a bit skewed, no?

Same as usual for calling violations.

Ideally in disc golf, players call violations on themselves much more than on competitors. So, no it is not skewed......it is as if you are calling it on yourself when you are calling or seconding a call on your partner. That is just simply honor and good sportsmanship.

The interesting dynamic that is technically allowable and good gamesmanship (but questionable sportsmanship) is calling infractions where there is a do-over for the first offence. For instance, if your partner is in the process of missing a putt, call a falling putt or footfault and having him second it would result in a free do-over.

One thing to be aware of is marking the lie. If the first to throw marks behind the disc, his partner cannot then mark the lie with his mini and throw from there. It is important to discuss this whenever you have an awkward lie.

Honestly, in my league I give what I would call a "gentleman's warning". I simply point out any infractions to let the player be aware of the violation. Doubles should be for fun and learning how to play as well as the rules.

Are you referring to a tournament or a league?

It was a doubles tournament that I was wondering about. League I understand and agree with the "gentleman's warning" mentioned above.

I was in a doubles tournament this weekensd and called a guy on a major foot fault....he was about a foot right and a foot ahead of his mini when he released the disc. I just informed him of his footwork and where he needed to be when he released the disc. He agreed and never did it again (atleast what I saw as I was not hawking him).

Getting someone to second within the time limit can be tricky.

If you see it, point it out. Be consistent, make sure your tone isnt negative, just simply point out the infraction, in a timely manner and if it gets seconded, fine if not, fine. People will start to pay more attention after you speak up, even if they didnt see it to second your call, they will be paying better attention in the future.
But if you consistently call infractions, regardless of how your round is going, people will eventually lose that attitude that youre being a "rule nazi".

In fact there are no rule nazis, just people that know the rules, people that dont know the rules and people that selectively choose which rules to enforce based on whats convenient for them at that time.
