Disc Weight
Has any one else noticed that alot of discs are off a gram or two? Today I decided to way my discs out on my scale. I found out that my 162 valkyrie is really a 164 valkyrie, and about 7 of my 13 discs were anywhere from 1-3 grams off the weight it said on the disc. And I know that my scales right because I have a 100 gram weight to calibrate it with. So if theres anyone whos picky about there weights they might want to double check it on a scale.

That's not bad. We weighed a 175 g Wizard one time that came in at 190+ g's. If all of yours were within 3 g's, thats as accurate as you can expect.
People always assume that this is due to some manufacturer conspiracy to sell mismarked discs or due to incompetence or negligence by the manufacturers. Really, water weight has a lot to do with it. A disc made in the dry winter will absorb moisture in a humid summer environment and gain a couple of grams of water weight. A disc that you fish out of a lake that has been there a while will be way over the weight on the disc, guaranteed. A Gateway disc made in summer in the Godawful St. Louis humidity that gets shipped to Arizona will probably lose a couple of grams. Probably very few discs in your bag weigh EXACTLY what is written on them. It's not that big a deal. |
