Marketplace Entry Fee

This idea was bounced around in a thread in the Suggestions forum and a bunch of people felt that it was a good idea so I'm going to give it a go.

The idea is, to post new threads in the marketplace you'll need to have a minimum of the $5/year subscription to the site. While this will obviously help generate some revenue, it will also provide a little security. What I mean by that is, someone looking to only rip people off will most likely not want to pay the entry fee and at the very least, it's a deterrent. Also, knowing that a member did pay the $5 indicates that they're at least reasonably serious about their trade/sale/deal.

Anybody would still be able to post in any thread, the $5/year will only be required if you want to post threads of your own.

I'm thinking to start this on 9/1 which gives everyone over a month to get on board.

Any Marketplace thread. If I excluded a particular type, people would just post Sale threads as Wanted. If you get the disc you want from your Wanted thread(s), I think $5 a year is a small price to pay.

Good idea, its exactly what pay to play would do in terms of reducing vandalism!!!

However, $5 is so minor if someone was really going to rip someone off, they could get 10 discs in a deal and it only cost them $5.

I would say full premium $25 for access to the marketplace, but I could also see this really cutting down on the # of people too. It's your call but I'd be behind the full premium, just like if you want access to the score analysis and such and roadtrips.
