Mid Ranges... What's the Point?

Lol I used that title to draw you in.

I own, a DX Shark, 2 z buzzz ss, 1 Cryztal buzzz ss, 1 Ti Buzzz, 1 z Glo Buzzz, and my brother owns a Opto Core.

I don't like the feel of any midrange in my hand thus I haven't bought anymore. I used to use my Buzzz SS all the time, and then I suddenly couldn't throw it at all anymore. The grips don't compliment my hand at all. I try constantly to find a grip of a mid range feeling different mid ranges and none of them feel right. :/ I can use putters, fairways and drivers okay. But I griplock/release too early/high/low. Is there a reason I should be using a midrange? I use my Teebird in it's place currently because it's my driver I can trust the most. Is there a grip that would work better for mid ranges? or even a certain way to throw them?

I know I lack on stand still throwing, I'm working on that ATM. But as of right now, I have dropped mids from my bag completely

And before any of you mention a roc, I do not like the grips on them. Maybe when I find a way to throw what I have now, or something with an okay grip I'll buy a roc to try it out.

If this is in the wrong section, I apologize but it's about mids... I feel like such a baddy...

Unrelated topic, I bought an Opto River today.... OMG I'm in love.

Try a Gateway Element in S (Sure Grip) plastic, and try using a fan grip instead of a power grip if that's what you were doing before. $9.99 delivered to your door.....

I use a modified fan grip on most Mid range shots.

I found this pic that best shows what I'm saying

And maybe try a Meteor or Mako. Both of these guys have different rims than all the discs you listed.

I'll look into it Harkey, thanks for the picture. I've tried all kinds of grips none of which work with my small fat hands. The ones you posted I have not tried. I think I'll try the fan grip on the shark before I go buy a new disc. Meteor I was looking into, I'd like to feel one before I purchased it though.

dpgauthier, I'll see if I can find one I can feel before I buy it. So far, I've held a comet, wasp, buzzz, shark, core, and Stingray or whatever. None of which feels right, I end up just hurting my hand trying to find a grip.

With practice you should be able to throw a buzz or core or roc over 300ft with greater accuracy then any fairway driver. I find midranges also help to show you form flaws in you technique. I myself now carry fewer drivers and more midrange discs one I figured out how to throw them well. I use a 4 finger power grip with a 2 step xup approach but taking very slow short steps

Yea, I've been lacking field work. Today or tomorrow, I'm going to do field work with just midranges and my pure and my river. I gotta get back on my grind.

I would but I don't have much. Plus my brother and I basically share discs. I'll let you know if I change my mind. Most of mine have ink cause I go to pias to buy discs to try.

I would definetly try a Mako. I have a Star Mako that I love, and I very rarely use any other mid-range, though I do have a few in my bag (I have a Star Kite, but that thing has so much glide I use it as a fairway driver...methinks Innova mis-categorized this one.) But the Mako feel just like a putter and flys the same with a bit more glide and speed. If you have a friend that has one or you can pick one up for cheap you should definetly get a Mako or something anagalous from Disccraft or Gateway.
