Portlandish, Oregon
Didn't want to hijack anyone's thread... so here we go!
I am going to be in the Portland area next week visiting an old friend (who is coming from L.A. and has never been to Portland either). I won't have much time to play all the courses I would like, so I am trying to narrow it down a bit. My initial thoughts: ---------------------------------------------- Horning's Hideout/L.L. Stub - My one day devoted to disc golf Pier Park - Try and get my buddy to do this one with me Leverich/WSU - Try and knock these out before my buddy flies in. Get to check off a state at least. Lucky Mud - Super duper long shot if we are bored ---------------------------------------------- So I dunno, that's pretty much it. I can't imagine people would recommend doing something other that Horning's Hideout on my full day, or something other than Pier Park for a one-course day... but if anyone has any suggestions, I live for it!

That's actually not a bad choice of courses...if you do end up playing any others like Dabney, Timber, Milo or Blue Lake let me know.

Yeah, I don't really have anything to add. Get to Hornings, a full day there should get you all 3 courses, bagging LL stub would make for a long day, but it's worth the stop, I'd recommend those 4 courses over anything else in the area.
Pier is one of the more overrated courses I feel I've played, but then there's people like Danhyzer that tell me it's in his top 10, so you should probably go form your own opinion. Make sure you call ahead to Lucky Mud, I never did and couldn't get ahold of anybody, so I just showed up and showed myself around, which worked, I would have rather had someone know I was there... Have fun, and enjoy Hornings!

Hmmm.. all right, maybe I can shuffle things around. I just noticed how highly Milo was rated. Maybe do a schedule like,
Full day - Hornings and LL Stub Half day - Milo and maybe something else Half day - Pier Park and a WA course just to bag the state That sounds doable... and I would get in three 4.5 rated courses. Sweet. Quote:

I have Hornings, Pier and Milo in my favorites, but I would choose Hornings in a heartbeat.

I only had one full day of discing in Portland while I was there last year. I spent a whole day at Horning's but did not play the short course, just the Meadow and Canyon courses because I had a first timer with me and we were both pretty tired. Absolutely fantastic though and I really cannot wait to get a chance to return.
I'm in the same boat as Martin in regards to Pier Park. It was a very nice park course, but it didn't really blow me away. I'm very glad I had the chance to play it though. |

if you do milo and are looking for something else the same day pair it up with a visit to timber park, right across the river...

Yup, I'm going to do Milo for sure tomorrow, and try to squeeze in Timber before my buddy lands.
Does anyone know what setup Milo is currently in? Time will be a hot commodity, trying to get it all sorted out beforehand.
