Paul McBeth Signature Disc

I know these aren't your words booter and you're just passing along info. I'm not trying to be a douche by contradicting you. I've read a lot of your posts and have a lot of respect for you based on what you've shared with the rest of us.

This makes no logical sense, though. None at all. Why on earth would Paul reject this as his disc? If released into regular production it's guaranteed to make him a chunk of change and make a name for himself w/ people who might not otherwise know who he is. Also, if he rejected it why would he let it be released in such a high profile way at the biggest tourney of the year, where it's gonna make waves. It's already making waves.

I don't think any of those discs would be released in such a high profile way if he rejected it.

Maybe stranger things have happened, but I'd be less surprised if champ rocs still aren't being mass produced after this than if they are released without his signature.

Rumors are rumors. The full disclosure of this particular rumor is that someone convinced Paul that these Rocs have a plus rim and they wouldn't sell, so he said he didn't want it. I don't know how much truth is behind that. Paul would be the guy to ask.

btw, these are not plus rimmed. I compared them to the 2006 Rocs they had at the pro shop and they had the same rim configuration, so unless they had plus molds in 2006...

Not intending to take anything away from McBeth at all, but I'm surprised that innova let the roc be his sig disc. And if it won't go into production as his sig disc as has been speculated, then it makes no sense that they would release what looks like a production stamp w/ his name at the USDGC. Releasing it at the USDGC is like having a CD release party to promote the thing. It's a foregone conclusion that whatever roc they bring to the tourney is going to be the star of the show, so to speak. Every single one will be snapped up, for sure.

You know that previous champs must've asked Dave D. to have that disc and been denied. I gotta think the Champ and Dave have had that conversation and IMO, if anybody should have their name on a champ roc it should be him. I would think if innova put a signature on arguably the most iconic name in their line-up, then it should be inarguably the most dominant disc golfer of all time. Dave should have let Climo have the roc.

I know the beast is taken, which would've been kinda sweet for him, but surely there's another mold that he throws which he could've taken as his sig disc. Not saying he doesn't deserve a big seller, but putting champ rocs into production is a game changer. They've been so exclusive for so long that no doubt they'll sell like hot cakes when they go into regular production. I think KC earned it, from his decades of loyalty to the company and to the sport.

Good logic. Except that Climo has his name on so many discs, it would be kind of over kill to put his name on another. Even if a champ roc is more fitting to have his name than McBeth.

If it makes people feel better, I've been at usdgc all week and I hear the same rumor booter heard. Also, short version of my review is faster with less glide and fade than a fresh dx rancho.

It's a fact that a champ roc should have Climo's sig, IMO. I dunno how many models he has signed, but I don't think it's 12. The only overkill is giving this jewel to a one-time winner. If one world championship gets you a signed model of your choice, what does 12 get 'ya. I'd bet you a nickel to a dollar that most people who throw KC pro don't even know the KC is for Ken Climo. Most people here in Kansas City just think it's a cool coincidence or something.

I'm all for McBeth getting his sig disc. I'm definitely all for full production runs of champ rocs. I've not been a fly on the wall at any of these meetings, but I guarantee you that Climo asked for the roc years ago and was denied. Prolly, Dave just said, "oh we'll give you your own special blend, but the champs are always going to be USDGC collector/fundraiser discs." But if that's changed, then the game's changed and he should be given a shot. You know these will outsell Barry Leopards or Feldy Boss's or Avery Destroyers espescially at first b/c of the pent up high demand on what was a limited edition disc for so long. All of the others were already available pre-sig, but this could be the first time that these discs are made for a full production run.

Maybe McBeast didn't want his name on a roc +. I can understand that, but if these are flat-top champs, then that's way different and he was misled either intentionally or unintentionally if that rumor is true. Either this is a huge PR flop for Innova (not unheard of) or KC got the shaft b/c I'm sure that his name is the one that will be associated with rocs, with good reason, moreso than McBeth.

I dunno, I guess we all should just wait and see what announcement is made after the tourney. This deal reinforces the notion that innova is the anti-MVP. They release tons of molds, then revise them or change them altogether w/o notice, in some plastics but not others, with sigs or without and just try to meet a deadline rather than get it right and consistent the first time. Oh well, it'll be a bit before the full story comes out, but I feel like the Champ got the Shaft. McBeth should get a good disc, but I just don't think it's fair to drop this gold nugget in his lap.

Dave should think about rewarding the players that brought the company through much thinner times than now properly before passing the torch.

I'll pick some up when they hit shelves, just like a lot of others will, I just hope that innova at least makes an attempt to get it right.

But this isn't the Champ roc that we all know and love. It is yet another slightly modified mold of the roc with different flight numbers, which people have been testifying flies more like a buzzz.

I also think this disc will become production for that reason, and the Real Champ Rancho roc will remain USDGC only.

People saying KC "got the shaft" are ridiculous. The dude has had his own plastic line, and his signature on a dozen discs, 5-6 of which are currently in production. They didn't even take his roc away, they gave a new variation to a world champ. Ken had made a ridiculous amount on royalties over the years and continues to collect a check. How in the Hell is that "getting the shaft"?
