The real value of signed discs

I've seen many signed discs in the Marketplace that seem to be several dollars more than the selling price of the same disc unsigned. Are there really that many collectors out there who will pay a dollar or two (or even $$$) more for a signed disc?

How much more would you be willing to pay for a CD signed by the singer of your favorite band?

Depends. Am I buying it from them or from you? I think the real value comes from getting it signed.

There's a reason why it's only a dollar or two more for a signed disc over the market value for an unsigned disc instead of twice the price. The reason being, there isn't a big market for signed discs.

A few dollars to get a signed disc isn't unreasonable...the person had to find the signer... It's not always that easy...especially if you don't want to interfere with the players play rhythm/warmup.

It depends on the person and what it means to them, with any signature. I mean, let's face it. We don't exactly participate in a massive exposure sport. Ken Climo isn't Jack Nicklaus. But he could be considered the Jack Nicklaus of disc golf. So maybe if someone got him to sign a Teebird it would be worth something to you. It's not anything you're going to put up to auction or go on Pawn Stars with.

I have a Nate Doss & Emac signed Buzzz that I throw often. It's cool that they signed it for me, and whenever I throw it I have the memory. But I'm not going to hang it up on a wall or try to get $30 for a $15 disc on the MP. But that's just me.

Not the replies I expected in this thread. In my experience a signed disc loses value.

I agree. I feel the disc would actually be worth LESS, to me anyways. That being said I hate abunch of ink on discs. I dont even let people sign discs Ive aced with.. I think its tacky.

i won't pay anything extra for a signed disc...that being said, i also wouldn't sell any disc i was able to get signed. I might throw it, might not....but would never sell it. Too much of a cool experience to get the signature to sell it.
