Courses by Boston

I will be out in the Boston area next month sometime for work and am looking for recommendations on where I should hit up (besides maple hill as I will be playing that probably twice).

Any thoughts/recommendations ??

Stop by the Marshall Street pro shop at Pyramids too There are several really good courses in the area. Hylands and Devens are two really good options as well

Borderlands is outstanding, multiple tees and basket locations. Beautiful park, and challenging golf

This. It's also one of the closest courses to the city.

Borderlands is great! I played there a second time just weeks ago, it is so good with 2 sets of tees and 2 baskets and each hole.

If you're playing in January, you probably want to make considerations for the fact there could be snow on the ground at any or all of the courses in the area. Some courses might not be as enjoyable/playable in the snow as they might otherwise be. For example, Maple Hill is a grind in the best of conditions, especially if you want to try your hand at the Blue or Gold layouts. Add in slogging through a few inches of snow and one round might just wipe you out. And if it doesn't, it still might take longer than you expect and that would affect whether you can get to another course with enough daylight to play.

Not that I want to discourage you from trying any of the good to great courses in the area, just want to make sure the conditions don't catch you off-guard and cause you to leave disappointed. If I were you, I'd target one or two courses as must play and leave the others to a play it by ear approach. And for me, the must play courses would be Borderland and Maple Hill. Then I'd list Pyramids & Newton next solely because of the proximity to MH and the fact you *might* be able to squeeze one of them in on the same day you do MH. There's also another new course not far from Borderland at Dacey Fields in Franklin. If you're looking for a second course to pair with Borderland in a single day, that might be the one.

Maple Hill, Devens and Borderlands are must plays. Snow might make Devens very interesting.
