"Nemo" shuts down Marshall Street

This is just an FYI to everyone out there that due to the storm we have been shut down the last two days. We will reopen tomorrow but will be behind for a couple of days. We appreciate your patience while we dig out from this storm.

Just saw Mulberry St. which is around the corner from Marshall St. It's burried under 4-5 feet of snow! Serously, the road is gone.

Someone needs to give the Weather Channel a cease and desist order on naming snowstorms.

They are naming storms that have significant impact on the economy and may endanger lives. Makes the storms stand out as more important and people actually pay attention to the warnings more. Saves lives. They started doing that last year I think.

And no, it's not the same storm that hit Michigan. The storm that hit Michigan then combined with another much more powerful storm, and together as one they rode up the east coast. Michigan didn't get 20-30 inches of snow and 70mph winds.

Ordered discs from MSt online on Sunday ... they were on my doorstep at noon today. Yeah, you guys often get them to me in two days, but I consider that to be a bonus. Good job, guys!

This policy has nothing to do with saving lives and everything to do with marketing. Not to mention trying to keep their television presence relevant in an internet age where using the TV to find out the weather forecast is antiquated.

Other weather outlets (including the National Weather Service) that aren't use this silly naming scheme info inform the public just fine. I doubt anyone takes a storm more seriously because some corporate entity (i.e. not an official authority) has given it a name.
