So a split tie-die that's green on one side and red on the other is gonna fly lopsided, right?

Pink and other bright colored discs have a huge effect on speed of play during tournaments just as glow discs make playing at night a lot faster.

this topic has got to be the biggest urban legend of disc golf.
It can probably be traced back to specific runs of gateway putters, when certain batches that were more desirable than others had specific color(s).

it predates gateway by quite a bit... dark colors in the early cyclones tended to be more overstable than light. green cyclones were the shizz back then.
i also thought the early red star plastic tended to be more overstable than other colors. imo it actually makes sense... each pigment has a different composition which can have an effect on how the plastic molds up. whether or not the effect is sufficient to notice is another matter entirely.

Ah! That's where the iron heavy red dye comes into effect!

I'll never look at a red disc the same again. Green or blue should fine though, copper is used in both those colors...copper weighs less than iron, should make them at tad less stable. Forget about the production run, weight, dome, PLH, and that one's a Roadrunner and the other's a Wraith. Damn overstable colors!
Thanks, kid, for starting this deep subject! You actually uncovered some believers.
