Bag tag Defended!

I played my first bag tag challenge today and I actually defended my tag against someone that was better than me by far, but he had a bad day and I was on. he ended up in the plus teens when he is usually one or two under par, and I was -3 up untill hole 16 when I missed the mandy and finished the round at even par 54.

has anyone else defended their single digit tag when they should have lost it on their first challenge? and what was it that helped you defend?

Took the #1 tag from three top locals and then defended it from the same three guys after lunch.

At the Late, Great Woodsock Rocks course in NY.

Probably the last time i strung together TWO ROUNDS of really solid golf.

On Saturday, we did a bag tag challenge and I moved up exactly one tag. I was feeling good until hole 7 and then proceeded to bogey the next 4 holes. I stopped the bogey run with a really nice bird on a hole with a TON of trees...and then bogeyed the next two. I got one more bird (hole 17) and the rest were pars.

There is no way I should have moved up, but I beat the guy ahead of me by five throws because I think everyone was just having an off day. Regardless, I was 4 over and somehow advanced. Crazy. My buddy Geofflaw moved up two tags with a 13 over. Very strange tag day indeed.

The new years tournament dictates what tag you start with for the year. I came in second. The kid who won has to go back to college and he wont be around to defend the #1 tag. sooooooo I get it! Not to shabby for a 40 year old lummox.

Now I feel like this:

that' how I feel because noone drew #1 out of the bag, so I'm the tag to swipe. heh heh. I took pictures of it in my beg because I was positive I was losing it an hour later.

I just ask for the highest number so I don't have to go through the hassle of slowly ending up with it anyway....

Me and a buddy actually started up a local club and started doing weeklies and bag-tags again after it had been dead for a 3-4 years in my city. It was cool because we had a lot of people coming out and playing but hadn't had any sort of club or league going since I'd started playing. I've had a couple of defenses or take backs of the #1 tag that were memorable, but the biggest accomplishment was probably defending it every single day for two weeks against other top golfers in the city.

This last weekend was fun too. After a christmas hunting trip and a week off DG I was rusty as **** and shooting terrible for a week. Ended up getting into a money round with the top 5 golfers in the city and won on the very last putt in the round, then Sunday defended it in our bag tag with all of the top players in town but #2.
