Judging by how these are flying for other people, I'm guessing mine is a first run. I'm turning it into a 10 MPH headwind.

Discspeed, just wait until you break in your new Shock. Beautiful disc. I was tempted to throw a QOLF in my bag again to help bridge the gap, but a lightly seasoned Shock, paired with a Volt and XXX, loving that combo for my stable and overstable driver shots. A few weeks of tree hits really brings out the glide while retaining a consistent HSS.

Is the Shock supposed to be as stable as a Firebird?

The new run is pretty close to a firebird imo. I liked the original run better until it broke in rather quick Id say like 2 weeks. I was throwing them 350+ with a reliable fade at the end. The new batch is just too stable and lacks glide tho I guess if I keep throwing it will eventually turn into a straight flyer but I was amazed how quick my first one broke in.

HSS yes but it is a fairway driver vs distance driver and would say the FB's are designed to be a little faster but practically the same discs given 300' power.

Shock vs firebird? Brand new the shock is about as stable as the domey firebirds. If we're talking 12x faf fb's then the shock is less stable. It really depends on which run of firebirds you're comparing it to IMO.

I'm trying to break my orange Shock in...More thumbers needed I guess, but those break me in as much these days as the disc (and I don't need to be any less stable). When I do get a Shock broken in, unless the Volts are coming out more stable I may not need one. I'm really hoping that happens because I love the Volt, but right now my Volt just feels like my most stable Amp.

Ya, my new Shock kicked my Star Firebird out of my bag. After much deliberation, I'm ok with it though.
