S. Barbara, Monterey, & Bay Area 1/24-1/31
I’ll be out in California later this week. I’ve got a couple days each in Santa Barbara, Monterey, and SF. I’ll probably only have 1 day for DG in each area and I will have my wife and son with me.
How are playing conditions? Are any of these courses doable with a stroller? Any tournament related course closings that I should know about? Santa Barbara Thursday – Sunday Never played in this area. Probably playing: Lake Casitas Sylmar Rabbit Flats Monterey Sunday – Tuesday I’ve played DeLa, Pinto Lake, and Ryan ranch. What else should I play in this area? Or should I go back to DeLa? SF Tuesday – Thursday I’ve played GGP and Stafford. What else? Napa? Thanks, Kevin

Add Waller when you're in the SB area. Casitas is a must play, but isn't stroller friendly. Rabbit Flats isn't essential. You should check out Black Mouse when you go play Dela again, but it is on school grounds, so not playable during school hours. Napa is definitely worth your time.

Thanks ToD. I'll check out Waller and Black Mouse to see if they fit in our plans.
Any locals care to chime in on course conditions?

It's dry here right now and should be in great shape. Definitely play Napa. Hilly but a lot more compact than Stafford Lake.

You lucky duck!
FWIW, Napa is not stroller friendly but it is a great course. Wonderful scenery and a lot of elevation. The walk/hike from the parking lot to the first tee is about 15 minutes. Waller is definitely stroller friendly.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll happily carry the little guy to play a great course, but would prefer the stroller to save time.

For sure play De La again. Aptos HS or Blackmouse are both fun courses as well.

GGP is as stroller friendly as it gets. Stafford and Napa, mmmm not so much. Some say Stafford is the best course around, but it comes down to prefference. Nice thing about Napa is the area. Wine country is very beautiful this time of year and the food is top notch! Also, down town Napa is less than 5 to 10 min away. So your wife a baby could go explore that area as well.
Have a fun and safe trip! |

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm getting really excited about this trip. A few more questions...
If I play Sylmar, how far of a drive is Oak Grove? How are current conditions?

It's about 20 minutes from Sylmar to Oak Grove. I haven't played either of them since Christmas, but they should be fine.
