Our parks department requires insurance.

Besides, if an event is PDGA-sanctioned, which most around here are, insurance is provided.

Meanwhile, at Stoney Hill we used waivers AND insurance. You can't be too careful.

I had this discussion earlier but could someone clarify....

PDGA sanctioned events have insurance, but it costs $50 to print the certificate to prove it, correct?

For 2013 the fees for Wintertime Open were $1325.00 for EACH weekend for a total of $2,650.00

When I ran the So Cal Championships at La Mirada it was $1,800.00 for both weekends.

Holy cow. I can't count how many great tournaments I've attended where the total purse for a full field (pro & am) didn't reach the amounts it costs just to rent your courses. Kudos to you for coming up with that kind of fee AND putting on a hell of a show for the players too.

I'd love to get some more responses. I'm new to this type of thing. So far, however, the Frees are winning fo sho.

PDGA insurance automatically covers the PDGA and the TD of record. If insurance is required by the course ownership/management (be it city, county, or privately owned), it costs $50 to add that party to the rider for the length of the event. So the $50 is not just to print the certificate. The certificate is proof that the $50 was paid to cover the appropriate parties.

Its California-- Parks are few and far between compared to a place like MN and their budgets are @#$%^& hence the huge fees.
