I have an iphone and I chalked up the $1.99 on the UDisc app. It is as accurate as 16ft +/-. It uses GPS to find your distances. There is also scorecards on there and the developer seems to be pretty good so far about improving his product.

100-150 ft - I could hit 100-150 when I first started throwing (noob hyzers)
200 ft or so - Probably 2-3 months in
250ft - Less than a year
300-320ft - About a year
350ft with the occasional 400' grip lock throw - 1-2 years
330'-340' - 2.8 years in. Distance has fallen a bit since I've been working on my form and discing down hasn't been helping either. I'm at a very frustrating point in my overall game right now. Very tempted to give it all up.

(I'm very, very old. I blame this for my distance inadequacy )

I was out distancing the person who introduced me to the game within a month, and 350' took me another month or two to hit consistently. Was using Firebirds as distance drivers too haha.

Now doing it with control? That took time

Thought everyone here threw over 500 ft. Distance is a false prophet. Few course force distance over 300 ft to score well. Accuracy, shaping and course management will improve your game quicker. Having fun will make your whole game better.

300 - 6-7 months

Presently at 8 months - 350 max once in a blue moon. I average about 300-320 with my D4 or Z Avenger.

I work on my snap drills and field practice and am wondering is distance something that grows at a steady pace or is it something that you got right away. Or maybe it was something that clicked one day and boom you jumped from 300 to 400. For me it seems to be a steady increase with a lot of 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Gah gotta use memory... I grew up playing a lot of Ultimate... so I'd say:

100 ft - immediate.
200 ft - 1 week
250 ft - 2 weeks
300 ft - 1 month
400 ft - 1 year
450 ft - 1.5 year
500 ft - 3 years
550 ft - 5 years

All really approximate. Still looking to cross 600. Hoping for this year - I've been able to touch 550 for like 3 years now. I'd like to believe all my winter workouts, specifically leg work, will make a difference and get me past my current best in the 570s.

I HAVE thrown over 620 once in 2009. But it doesn't count. Since it was with a 150g Destroyer with a 25mph gust that carried the hell out of it. Haha. Given a big enough tornado anyone can throw a literal mile.

GPS is probably the best, but I say do field work on a football field if you can. Soccer fields are fine, but can vary some in length, especially in the US.

A football field is always going to be 360 feet from goal post to goal post.

Obviously, once you're out to 400+, the football field can be problematic.

Me this...only it's probably closer to 300 rounds....

I had a jump over the last year, where I'm around 350 controlled max D. So, 3 yrs to 350. Starting from "what's a frisbee," basically, and starting old, so my body requires patience....
