Which town will get a disc golf course first in Southeastern Indiana?
I've emailed/called several towns, state parks, etc. about disc golf courses in southeastern Indiana since moving back to Indiana. I've pretty much given up and decided to build my own home course of 6 really good holes, and driving to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky to play real courses.
So lets have some fun with this. Which town will get a course first? Here's the results of my emails/calls: Lawrenceburg: Looked at me like I was a dumbass for even asking. Dearborn County: Very interested, had a plan to put one in a new park next to the boy's home in Manchester. Kids at boy's home go to Miami-Whitewater to play sometimes. Don't know what their status or funding situation is. Versailles State Park: A resounding no. Clifty Falls State Park in Madison: No, and will never happen. Muscatatuk State Park in Vernon: Interested, but have too much vandalism. Batesville: Very interested. Already thought about building their own course (not a good design at all), but no funding. Towns not contacted (possibly because they have no available public land): Rising Sun, Aurora, Madison, Vevay, Brookville, Greensburg, and Greendale. Have heard that Hidden Valley Lake may be building a private course for it's residents only. |

On the property worried about vandalism, suggest starting with an object course and bring up that other courses have seen decreases in vandalism in the park after installation. Disc golf traffic can be a nice discouragement to that kind of behavior.

Don't forget churches. Richmond, IN has a course on church ground.

Or schools with enough property, sell it as a great PE/after school activity for the kids.

I think u guys missed the point of my original post. Im not looking for ways to convince them to build a course. Just wanting to talk about the great possibilities. I wont waste any of my time with the public when I can do it on my own privately.
schools- budget cuts churchs- never played a church course worth a damn. |

Have you tried to contact Mounds SRA? SRA's have a better chance of getting a course that a State park.

I thought the towns with the gambling boats had money to burn?
I grew up in the Lawrenceburg area, an my dad still lives in Aurora. Unless things have changed in the last 20 years, there's really not much free space around Greendale, is there? Any room around Pefect North Slopes? It's been a long time when I was out that way.... Good luck! |

Mounds SRA is a good idea.
The casino towns are busy blowing that money on stupid stuff and being corrupt. Lawrenceburg is a mess. Ludlow Park in Lawrenceburg would be perfect for disc golf. Now that the Cincinnati casino has opened, the casino towns will dry up. |
