I don't know what they are called, but we have these awful red stemmed monstrosities covered from top to bottom in long, scratchy thorns. Some of our area courses are completely taken over by the stuff in the rough in the summer months.

I hate poison oak, but I HATE nettles. There's nothing worse than walking through a grassy field and get stabbed by those damn things.

^ how awesome it'd be to thrown your brand new disc and impale it on something like that.

Seen it happen a few times to brand new discs, right through the flight plate. Never my own though. It's mainly a foot concern. The first time I saw a guy pull a four inch spike from his shoe sole I made it a top priority to watch where I step on those few holes. It's worst when the parks dept. cuts the little branches off and doesn't pick them all up off the park grounds. That's when you get little stragglers that find there way into your foot. I've seen one completely go through a person's foot. Had to have it removed at the hospital and a few shots. They're nasty trees.

^ virtually guarantees his next new disc shall be impaled... prolly during a sanctioned event, no less - just so he can't even use the disc the rest of that day.

You'd think so but as I posted that I did a voodoo rain dance and sprinkled dried unicorn tears all over my grip bag. I'm good.
