ACE POOL CAP - YES or NO

Should your local league/club cap their Ace Pool?

I say NO.

What say you?

I say yes, but I'm not sure it has to be $100 (it could be more depending on the overall popularity of the league), so it's tough to actually vote in your poll.

I think uncapped ace pots can be an attraction for the league when it gets up there in value. But the downside is that when the pot gets hit, half the crowd (or more) disappears until the pot starts climbing again. I'd rather have a league where attendance was more stable than one that fluctuates based on the size of the ace pot. In other words, I'd rather have 20-30 players every week with multiple $100 pots available each week than two or three weeks of 60+ people gunning for a $400+ ace pot followed by a couple months with under 20 players every week because the big ace pot is gone.

I think that it depends on the league, but for ours, I really like it. It's nice to know that just because someone got an ace last week that buying in the next week won't be just for 20 bucks. We also let the two keep building if it ever gets crazy long between aces.

Our club rule is that if you get the 100 ace, you must bring cold beverages the following week. Our club is small, and that way, everyone wins, even soda people

I like a soft cap. When the pot hits a certain amount, start splitting all the new money between the original pot and a new pot. That way you can still build a big pot if nobody aces, but there's a new one started already when someone does hit it.

There's something awesome about $1000 ace pots that drive all golfers crazy.

My local club caps at $100. I think there have been a handful of aces recently, but a while ago we had multiple pots waiting to be paid out.

I don't know....ours ran up to $688 last year and it was amazing to see the turnout from people all over Northern California and Nevada. Got to play with new players and others that you wouldn't see until a regional tournament. I'll tell you what....each shot out of the tee box has a whole different feel to it with that much money at stake. I think it's good to let it ride and build up.

Soft cap is also a great idea-never thought of that before!
