"pDGA"?

Please help out a fellow disc golfer who's not to bright. I've decided I just can't figure this out on my own.

What, exactly, is the point certain people are trying to make, typing "pDGA"?

I understand that they don't like the PDGA. That's fairly obvious from the rhetoric in their rants. Which is fine---it's a membership organization, and membership is not compulsory. People can enjoy disc golf without having anything to do with, or even hearing of, the PDGA.

It's obviously not a typo, or the modern illiteracy that's so common these days. It's too consistent.

In some circles it is considered witty to deliberately mispronounce people's names. Is deliberately misspelling "PDGA" in the same vein? Most such witticisms lose some of their luster with repetition.

So clue me in. What's the "p" supposed to mean?

I'm not sure either, but my best guess has been that they are undermining the "professional" aspect of the PDGA. Just a guess.

Yea, under minding the professional aspect of it.

Sorta funny to me. Like anyone cares what they think about the PDGA, just ignore them.

I don't care, I've just never quite figured out the "p". What they think of the PDGA is obvious. I kept thinking someone would include in his post, "I refer to them as the pDGA because____________" but, failing that, I thought I'd ask.

"They" may have a better answer for your question than "we" have.

I'm one of the fine folks who can't bring themselves to capitalize the p.

It is because the pDGA is not professionally administered in the vast majority of its operation.

There's only two things the pDGA is truly professional at: 1. extracting hundreds of thousands of $$$ from disc golfers and diverting it to connected wasteful insiders, and 2. hiding its books from its dues-paying members.

And just like that, one has.

If only they'd gone with "P"DGA, or Un-PDGA, maybe I would have deciphered it. Assuming that the other "pDGA" purveyors are using the same rationale, of course.
