USDGC Monday Qualifying

I am already set up in the Performance Flight of USDGC so I figure while i'm there why not try and Monday Qualify for the Open Flight.

Has anyone on here ever done it? Tried? Or know anyone that has? What kind of scores qualified that you've heard?

Just trying to see if I even have a chance. I've been playing well and practicing a ton for this and it'd be incredible to get a chance to play with the big boys at this event.

Thanks in advance for any info!!

I posted the hot round my last year of playing to get in. 67 the year it was stroke AND distance. The guy I played with shot a few strokes worse. 165 or 166.

I'm planning on trying. I'm also registered in the performance flight.

Matt,

How does it work? Is an official sent out for the qualifying attempts?

You get sent out with a group same as you would for a standard tournament round.

So what happens if the other three guys start out really bad and decide to restart?

I'm not sure how that's handled.

Maybe just wait for the next group to catch up.

You can actually pick your group if you have a few guys that you know that will be there trying to monday qualify. At least you could the years i tried. I didn't try last year.

Terry Roddy (DGPTV)was in the same perdicament that you are describing above. His group all decided to restart and he was playing fairly well. I was in the same situation as well and we were near each other on the course so we finished together. If you find yourself being abandoned on a hot round you can find any Course Marshall or Certified Official (not positive about this one) and they can walk with you so you can finish your round.

Good luck. the Monday Qualifier is almost as exciting as the event itself.

Gotta have two other with you that can call you on penalties... Otherwise no call can be seconded!
