Grip issue?

I noticed yesterday while I was out throwing a round, that my middle finger on my RH was getting rubbed raw on the knuckle. I noticed it after a putt. I tend to use a spread control grip. Fore finger along the rim and other 3 fingers spread out underneath the disc. Well, this morning while playing I noticed that it's no longer just raw. It was bleeding like a stuck pig. Gripping it for any other type shot doesn't bother it. Just with that 1 grip. Am I doing it wrong? Is there another way to grip it for putts/short throws? Or should I break out the sandpaper and get rid of the bad rough areas on the discs?
